Tagged

Rach tagged me for one of those fun "about yourself" posts that I secretly love.
and since I'm all about blogging consistently (ha) You get 2 blogs in a day!

Alright, here we go!

1. Post these rules.
2. Post a photo of yourself and 11 random things.
3. Answer the questions set for you in the original post.
4. Create 11 new questions and tag people to answer them.
5. Go to their blog/twitter and tell them you've tagged them.

From our recent Hawaii trip It makes me laugh

1. I have to have the TV on to accomplish almost any kind of housework. I don't even watch it, I just need the sound and the movement to focus. Pretty sure I have ADD
2. Looking back, I'm pretty sure I should have double majored in Biology.
3. My comfort food is saltines and Ovaltine
4. I am addicted to talk radio. Yes, including Rush Limbaugh but Dave Ramsey is my current favorite
5. I consider myself a pretty good cook but for the life of me I can't make Mac n Cheese. My kids are gonna hate me
6. Alien movies scare the crap out of me
7. We're not planning on having kids anytime soon, but I do have a Batman onesie in my closet...
8. I can't say the "g" at the end of a word. (song=sawn) which means I can never speak tagalog according to Clay
9. I am obsessed with the idea of an octopus kitchen. I think it would be fantastic
10. At the moment I am sitting in my Climate and Climate Change class (don't ask) reading a really funny blog and trying SO hard not to laugh out loud, so I'm just sitting here, trying to stifle it, giggling like an idiot. (The Blog I was reading HERE)
11. Clay and I are the biggest nerds you'll ever meet. Our first born's name will most likely be Special Agent Jack Bauer.

Rach's Questions
1. What is your favorite nail polish color? Black baby! But I am rocking silver at the moment

2. Heels or flats? Depends on the event. I refuse to wear heels to school though so probably flats.

3. Top 3 favorite television shows: Walking Dead, How I Met Your Mother, The Office, (and yes, Vampire Diaries :) )

4. What is your preferred jewelry? Earrings. Though I do rock a lot of rings as well.

5. What are you going to name your kids? Clay and I have only agreed on 1 for sure, maybe 2. Reagan for a girl, and maybe Jack for a boy? (I wasn't kidding about the Jack Bauer thing. ;) and if our Jack ends up as cute as my cousin's lil Jack I'll be a happy mama!)

6. Which do you prefer: Blogger, Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest? Why? Pinterest for sure. It makes me feel like I accomplished something or at least set goals instead of mindlessly stalking people. But of course I do all of these things. :)

7. Where is the one place in the world that you want to travel? At the moment I would really really love to go to Africa. It's been my goal since I was little. But I am watching Lord of the Rings right now so New Zealand would be cool too.

8. What did you dream about last night? Nothing! But the last dream I had was a really creepy one about pregnancy amnesia. *shiver*

9. Favorite brand of jeans? Anything Buckle! Rock Revivals are super great.

10. What was the first concert you ever went to? Clay took me to see "We Shot the Moon" for our second date. It was more of a show though so my first real concert was Jimmy Eat World which Clay also took me to. SO amazing.

11. What's on your summer to-do list? Lots of hiking, biking, rock climbing, swimming, hanging with the hubs as well as Rach and Leigh. :) I have a few weddings to shoot... o yah, I should probably find a job as well...

K Now my questions!

1. What books are you reading this summer?
2. Any crazy talents/abilities I don't know about?
3. Top 5 things on your bucket list?
4. If you could, where would you love to live, even just for a little while?
5. New movie you're most excited for? (coming out soon)
6. What's your favorite comfort food?
7. What's your go-to recipe for a quick dinner?
8. What's your theme song? Be honest...
9. Favorite Restaurant?
10. Favorite Quote?
11. Celebrity Crush of the moment?

Alright, I tag Chan, and Allie if it will get them to blog :) and Aubrey if she's interested!

Happenings! Part 1

Once again... I'm a failure at blogging (sorry mom)

But guess what?
I'm going to be a college graduate in a little over a month...

What?!

That means I have to be a grown up soon

I have to get a JOB

But...Lets not think about it right now. I have a few months of blogging to catch up on after all!
So lets get started!

Remember when my lil bro got his mission call?
Remember how he went into the MTC 2 days after his 19th birthday?

Yep. They really needed him out there in Albuquerque (thank you spell check for keeping me from looking dumb)

Well, it was my family's first experience with the MTC and it was truly bitter/sweet. We drove down to P-town the night before, got up early to get ready (mama insisted on making us wear church clothes so we'd look nice for pictures).

The boys - Clay (who had to work)
Well, we killed some time picking up a few other things for Britton, then we headed up to the temple for some classic sending off the mish pics!

Yes, there are a few of them. I couldn't narrow them down!
My bro is a goofball

Look at all my handsome brothers
Gonna miss this boy :(
btw, check out my sweet tights. I kinda failed to remember there would be poor lil missionaries at the MTC. Are they MTC appropriate? Not exactly sure...
Mama and the Elder!
Poor Mama had a hard time (sorry for the pics mom. They were part of the whole experience)
Dad and brother
Notice the sad difference in expressions... At least Britton was excited right?
Classic Britton. What will we do without him?
At this point, I'm not sure if Devin and Hayden are mentally there. They were a little bit in a daze.
Britton was nice enough to let me take some quick pics of him for a school project. Get ready ladies, he'll be home 23 months from tomorrow!
Taking applications for my future sister-in-law starting now!
Now, I'm sure most of you know this by now but these days when you drop a missionary off at the MTC, you get about 30 seconds with them before they head inside.
Like a bandaid right? Just get it over with.

There is a big group of missionaries waiting there that grab the luggage, you hop out and give them a hug, and they're off on their big adventure!

It looks a little something like this...
Brothers still in shock

Hugs for dad
Happiest mom looked all day :)
And he didn't even look back.

What a champion.

Bye brother! See you in 2!
In other news, one of the more exciting parts of our day was as we were leaving the temple. I was just finishing taking photos of Britton and a very unusual sight came over the hill.

Yes. It was a large herd of gingers.

Upon closer examination, I noticed that 2 of these gingers were clearly of missionary age...

The Weasley twins were getting dropped off at the MTC
As we drove by for a closer look however, you will notice there were not 2, but 3 flaming red heads, all heading out on their missions!

Of course, we told Britton to keep an eye out for them but the Weasley triplets disappeared...
and so ends the chronicle of the MTC.

Now, onto something I talk about with almost EVERY blog I post.. SCHOOL!
A while back there was a really awesome workshop up at the school about collodion wet plates, ran by an AMAZING photographer, Joni Sternbach. Check out her amazing wet plates HERE
It was a 2 day process and it was SO inspiring!
Look how amazing collodion wet plates are!
In fact, the process was so inspiring that I decided to continue to do it for my BFA show!
Well, we've been buying all kinds of hazardous for a while now and hopefully we're getting started this weekend!
Unfortunately, I basically only have 2 weeks to shoot. I'm slightly terrified I'm not going to have time to finish things. PLEASE wish me luck, and please come to my show! Opening April 9th!
Also, please pray that we don't mix a terrible chemical cocktail that kills us all
and please admire how amazing collodion wet plates are
Now a few randoms from lately!
We threw my dearest Megan a Bachelorette party!
(she also got married on Feb 4th. It was lovely.)
Before Britton left, I went home a lot to hang with the fam.
Here's us at a movie (if you couldn't tell)
If you haven't seen Chronicle, you should.
Also, our nephew is cuter then yours.
Clay and I found a new restaurant in Logan that we love.
Kabuki, Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar!

Mmmmm yummy!
Great Sushi, great steak, great fish, and I'm a big fan of food getting cooking in front of me and catching vegetables in my mouth.
Also, Clay's Christmas present turned up, just in time for Valentines Day! It's called a Cajon and he happens to be very good at it! It's basically an entire drum set in a tiny box.
Just ignore his creepster mustache. It rears it's ugly head when we go into lazy people mode.

So basically once a week.
Now, onto more school stuff!
So we've been working on this huge combined assignment with the graphic designers and we're basically helping local businesses here in Logan revamp their image. The different groups were competing against each other for their final grade (which is determined by the businesses and our professor's vote).

Our businesses were Poco Loco (a swim shop), The Kater Shop (Suit Store), and Belle's Bridal.
It was crazy stressful but terribly fun.
We discovered that when you are shooting commercial work, some interesting things can happen.
For example, you could have 4 wedding dresses on your couch...
My go-to model Kelly! She's also an awesome photographer. Check out her bloggy HERE
So, the day of our shoot we had a ton of outdoor locations planned...
and of course it was raining
so we had to rethink our strategy, which meant driving around until inspiration struck us.
We ended up at the Episcopal church and got some AMAZING photos!
Our lovely models, waiting for us to set up
I just thought this photo was funny. 2 girls in wedding dresses, checking out our wedding photo.
Belle's Bridal also has prom dresses! This is from our prom shoot
We had some dancing ones as well that were very funny but my phone pics didn't turn out
We also had another 8 wedding dresses for catalog shots. The "brides" lacing each other up
We love our pretty models!
Well, that's all I got for now! I've still got to post about our 1 year anniversary and our recent, SO amazing trip to HAWAII! Keep checking back! I'm back to blogging!

XOXO

2011 in Review+Christmas! Married Style

Hey All!

Happy 2012!
Hope the New Year has treated you all kindly thus far!

To celebrate the passing of one of the best years I've had, I thought I'd do a lil recap using Photos (surprise surprise!)

It was so fun going through all of my old photos over the past year and looking at all the fun we've had!

In January of 2011, we were deep in the bowels of wedding planning!

But we made time for fun things like finding a giant snowman out in Logan Canyon..
Maybe this year, we'll make one!
March 4th... we got hitched!
And what a fabulous day it was. My favorite day thus far! Can you believe that was 10 months ago? Craziness.
After the Wedding we had a little mini-moon down in SLC..
We visited the Aquarium
and the zoo! Wish I would have taken more pictures!
We went down to Provo and got covered in lots and lots of chalk...
and we did it with awesome friends
Clay had his first experience being married to an art major and helped me put together this little number until all hours of the morning...
and even now I think the hours and hours of work were worth it
not sure if Clay agrees ;)
We took a few silly photos together in photo booths
and we caught snakes on a Sunday walk
we wandered the farmer's market and had tasty tasty lemonade
and I had my first experience with a commercial photo studio at my internship at ICON
and I learned a TON. Still missing ICON a little bit to this day
We hung out with these cute kiddos as much as we could...

and they loved us for our iphones...
Clay had his first experience with college classes!
and I officially became a Reed woman on Clay's 22nd birthday after I successfully passed the Reed birthday cake ritual
We added a new member to our little family...
and Clay got a new bike
lots and lots of people got married
and we went to the zoo
with the Reed clan
The hubs taught me how to use a clothes line
and we had a little family togetherness time at my cousin's wedding
I got very tan, spray style
and we ate pizza out on the patio while watching 24... or The Office... or Cops...
We did a lil rock climbing
with our bestie Rach
and I worked a little bit more
Part of our childhood died when we watched the last Harry Potter movie
So bitter sweet
We did a little mattress surfing at a sorority
a little more difficult then you would think
I got to experience my first Reed family camping trip
and we did a lil fishing
and playin
and attempted to get a nice picture of (almost) all of us
I went on a man's trip with these handsome guys...
and got to enjoy the view
our fine steeds
and the fruits of our labor
after being gone for a week, I came home to an amazing surprise
from this handsome guy
we watched lightning storms from our patio
and Clay started his first FULL semester at USU.
And didn't agree with my enthusiasm :)
and I worked a little bit more. But how cool was my job?
we took cute, blurry iphone pictures
and tried our hand at one of my favorite, very strange trends, Planking
We had sleepovers in our living room
We went mini golfing
and decided we are going to invest in putters and become champion mini golfers one day
We had a snow day and made silly faces while drinking hot chocolate
and we took some naps.... Clay took some naps :)
Clay made delicious Filippino food
We carved pumpkins
and went to Lagoon where I got very wet.
we got iphones... oops
and became grandparents to the Luna puppy
we got a brand new nephew!
and hung out with our crazy friends
I took a painting class up at school...
that caused many casualties... my jacket... one of clay's shirts... my fingernails... our poor carpet.... my GPA... I'm clearly not cut out to be a painter
We went to the BYU:USU basketball game.
So much controversy... it was fabulous
and for some brand new news, one of my oldest and best friends got engaged!
I was lucky enough to take their engagement photos! Aren't they cute?

And some of the biggest news of 2011... my lil bro got his mission call!
Brace yourself Albuquerque New Mexico
Feb 22nd... it's going down.

Now, onto the last bit of news from 2011.... Our first married Christmas!
First off... Christmas Eve bowling...
we were a bit intimidated of the competition this year...
but we held our ground the best we could!
Apparently, Devin pulled a Sherlock on us and preferred not to be photographed.
Britton and Clay are feeling very good about life that day
Christmas PJ's this year were the best they've ever been. Britton and Clay's included monogrammed robes
and all of our pj's were chosen based on our preferred method of nerdiness
The Baird family Christmas haul. We (my mom) goes above and beyond the call of duty for Christmas that's for sure.
Opening presents VERY early in the morning
and I'm sorry to say I was a super lame sauce and got NO pictures at the Reed's for Christmas. We spent the day chasing kids around. And I loved every minute of it. :)

On a side note, Devin, (who was my secret santa this year) got me some freaking awesome zombie stuff this year (YAY Walking Dead!) this included these little beauties...
Zombie mints.
Well, one morning I decided a mint would be a great thing to have after brushing my teeth. So I popped open my zombie mints and threw one in my mouth. I did this so quickly, I didn't have time to process the very weird smell that the mints collectively gave off before I had a mint in my mouth.

It took me a second to realize that those mints were NOT mint flavored

In fact, they tasted like some kind of mixture between meat and the smell of cat food

So I investigated the container more closely (see above)

Why yes, those zombie mints are in fact brain flavored

And they do in fact leave a lovely after taste in your mouth, even after you brush your teeth again

and again

and again

Lovely yes?

Well, moving on to a completely different topic that I can't think of a clean segway into...

I got my hair did!
Please ignore the fact that I look kind of preggo in this next photo. I promise I'm not

Man that taco in my hand doesn't help my case much does it?
But my hair is MUCH more blond and fabulous! New year, new do!
Nothing too dramatic. I don't think I'll ever be able to give up my signature bangs... But mark my words, one day I will chop all of my hair off and become the rock star I was meant to be!

Once again, (enter creative segway into a completely different topic here)
Clay had to go back to Logan on the 27th.

Me, having no school, and no work decided to stay behind and hang with the family a little bit longer

Unfortunately this left me without a car

my dad conveniently has this airplane though

and he was nice enough to give me a ride back to Logan!
as you can see, it was a beautiful day for flying
and for some reason, my iphone has the ability to slow down the propeller blades on the plane
how gorgeous is that?

The husband was happy to have me back after almost a week

Being the good husband he is, he had pined and sulked around the house until my return

yah... that was a bunch of bologna

He was very excited to see that I brought home my parent's present to us...
See?
Just imagine the editing I'll be able to do on this bad boy... I get shivers just thinking about it.

2011. You were wonderful

Give 2012 a few tips alright?

Can't WAIT to see what the new year has in store for us

XOXO
