The Christmas Post

Hey All!

Sorry this post is a bit late! But you'll have to forgive me. I've been enjoying my very first Christmas with my boy, and my only Christmas with a fiance!

Though I must admit, I kind of missed waiting around for that Skype call from the Philippines
(not really)

We'll start at Christmas Eve
It was Clay and I's first experience trying to mix family traditions

Meaning it was Clay's first time Christmas Eve Bowling...
After dating for almost 3 years can you believe I have never been bowling with him?
And we're Mormon?

It makes no sense.

As you can see he did well the first round...

But the pressure started to wear on him...

and me..

that's the face of failure right there...

Clay is feeling confident. Me, not so much
This is right before Clay had his random "Hitch" moment and swelled up like a balloon. Unfortunately, I was too distracted by this to realize I might want to take pictures for posterity. Sad Days.

And the final score of the second game!
Probably the best I've ever bowled in my life
But it was Britton that pulled it out in the end with his 5 strikes and put the rest of us to shame.

Later that evening we got to open our Baird Christmas pajamas

Which happened to coordinate this year

This photo pretty much sums up our relationship
Love him

NEXT

Christmas Morning

at the Baird house, it looks like this...

Britton came out of the carnage with a nice bass guitar...

At the Reed house the favorite gift was "Just Dance 2"

I. Can't. Dance.

But apparently it is a requirement at the Reed household

And apparently Clay has some hidden talents that I didn't know about
Just another reason I love him

On a different note, Rach and I have a new love...
His name is Skiing

I personally have had an on again, off again relationship with skiing

But at the moment I can see this being a long and fulfilling relationship

Plus, who wouldn't want to be a ski bum?

XOXO

FINAL-ly!

Hey Bloggies!

Holy Moly it's been a while!
Finals kind of took over my life there for a little bit (a lot)

It's definitely been a bit of a downer when it comes to my blogging life!
O the life of an art major

But the good news is, instead of having a nice A on the top of a test at the end of the semester to show for it, I have some artwork!
See below....
I call this series-Happily Never After
Red Riding Hood

Sleeping Beauty

Snow White

Rapunzel

Frog Princess

Cinderella

You like?
I was pretty pleased with the results myself.

Good news was I didn't completely kill my social life with finals week and we threw a little party last thursday
An ugly sweater party to be exact...
The girlies! Yes, Rach, Mariss, and I are wearing ornaments for earings. Love it

We had lots of activities. Like a gingerbread house contest
And we just enjoyed each other's company
(Guess what? These 2 got engaged yesterday! Congrats Zena and Zack!)
Party=a success!

Finals are OVER!

Which means I FINALLY get to start getting everything ready for MARCH 4th!
I seriously can't wait!
and I promise more frequent updates here!

Bring on the Christmas Break and the Wedding Planning!

XOXO

Snow Days and Sparkly Things

Don't you love Idaho weather?

And the 2 seasons that it brings?

especially when it decides to dump a foot of snow in about 24 hours
I've been stuck in my house because of it since last Sunday

Don't worry though, because I wasn't lonely
My favorite person got stuck there with me
As you can see, he found ways to entertain himself

We also had a little fun with the mac photobooth...

And of course, enjoyed some hot chocolate
Don't mind the glasses, I dropped a contact in the snow while out on a photo shoot... So annoying
In other news, my real ring was finally finished! Big thanks to Marissa for bringing it to Idaho Falls for us!

Love love love this picture of us

And of course, you gotta have the cliche WAY too excited picture!
I think it fits, don't you? :)
Yep. We're getting married!
Huzzah!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving all!

A lil Proposal

Clay came down to see me on Friday.

We had a few errands we needed to run and things to get worked out for him to come to school

He said he wanted to take me out that night
We went to this lovely little place called Le Nonne, one of my most favorite restaurants in Logan
Please please please go check it out if you're in the area. You won't be disappointed. It's adorable

After dinner we headed back to my apartment
We sat and talked for a while and Clay told me he had a song that he wanted me to hear
but to get the full effect, I needed to close my eyes.
I laughed at his enthusiasm and let him walk me back into my room and sat down on the bed.
After he messed around with my ihome for a while, this song came on....

After the song had played, I asked if I could open my eyes.
Clay said yes and this is what I saw sitting on my desk

It was then that I really started to realize what was happening
Clay picked up the ring, and said that he knew it wasn't my real ring, but he was ready to be engaged. He then asked me to look at the inside of my "temporary ring"

Written on the inside was "Come what may." While Clay was on his mission, we liked to end e-mails with the phrase, "come what may and love it" from Elder Wirthlin's last talk. It's always represented hope for me. Hope for the future, and hope for us.

Then he got down on one knee... and asked me to marry him
I'm thinking you can guess what I said. :)

That's right, I'm marrying my high school sweetheart, my missionary, and my best friend!

And I couldn't be more excited

March 4th anyone?

Us the next day at Clay's first Aggie basketball game

PS, this is what my ring is gonna look like. It should be done this weekend! I can't wait!
In other, completely unrelated news, Clay got his first experience with snuggies this weekend...

I'm not sure if he's a fan
Have a lovely rest of the week everyone!
As for me, I get to go home tomorrow to see my FIANCE
I like the sound of that
XOXO

The Great Snow Doughnut Adventure

My ex-roommate, Annette's family has a really awesome tradition that we finally got to participate in

Every year when it snows for the first time AND STICKS, every single citizen of Weston Idaho heads over to the Fonnesbeck household for some of these little babies...

These are Snow Doughnuts.
And they only happen once a year

Well for some reason that I can't recall, we missed out on the snow doughnut tradition last year

We would not make that mistake again

So on Monday when it FINALLY snowed a decent amount we all loaded up into 2 cars and started our drive to Weston

Dear Rachael has never been to Weston

So it was not surprising that as we were taking the back-roads to Weston in the middle of the night when she missed her turn

Being the good driver she is, she drove on until a suitable turn-off area appeared on the side of the road.

A little patch of gravel to be exact

Rachael turns into the patch of gravel

and just keeps on going....
Until the large, muddy field stopped her
and she said some things that you shouldn't say in mixed company

Over and over and over again
Understandable since her little jetta is stuck in about a foot and a half of mud
Tiffany and I got a pretty big kick out of it though

Well we tried to push the car out of the mud
But only managed to get covered in the crap in the process

So Marissa and company drove up the road to see if anyone could help some poor, stranded travelers, just trying to get to Weston for Snow Doughnuts in the middle of the night

Meet our good Samaritan..
AKA a John Deere tractor.

This little baby and it's driver (a really awesome farmer with a sweet beard) pulled the little jetta out of the mud with only minor damages!
(her front bumper might have been pulled off by the mud)

But it didn't matter because the hunt for Snow Doughnuts was hot in our blood

And after our little adventure, success was o so sweet...

Sweet Sweet Success

Lesson learned? Never take a Jetta off-roading
O and Snow Doughnuts are AMAZING

XOXO
