I get married 1 month from today
In one month I will be a WIFE
I will have a HUSBAND in one month
How weird is that?
I'll be really honest, the wedding has really snuck up on me
When we got engaged back in November, March sounded like it was AGES away, now it's right around the corner!
Holy Cow
With it being the official 1 month mark, and with Valentines around the corner, I've been thinking a lot about Clay and I's story and how far we've come, and I thought it would be fun to have a little blog series about it.
Warning to my readers: These posts are mostly for me. Yes there will be cheese, and yes they'll probably be too long. Don't say I didn't warn you. :)
Alright, I guess I'll just start from the beginning!
I met Clay WAY back when I was 16.
The first time I can officially remember it was at this dance...
One of my favorite pictures from high school EVER.
However, we didn't REALLY start hanging out until about a year later, and even then it was just in big groups of friends. One day a group of us were at a Mexican restaurant down by the river and I asked if anyone had seen the previews for the movie "I am Legend." Clay was the only one that had, and he was just as excited to see it as I was. He suggested that we go see it together, and me, being the bold person I always am, (The previous remark is VERY sarcastic) said as long as it was a date, I'd love to go.
How cool was I?
Before the movie came out, Clay and I started hanging out a lot more, and I developed a little bit of a crush. Not only was he cute, he was nothing but nice to everyone and o so charming. He was also in a band, he played the guitar and sang, which of course my 17 year old self found nothing but dreamy. ;)
Good news was, Clay was true to his word and when "I am Legend" came out, he bought 2 tickets and asked me out, and I finally got some alone time with my crush. The movie was great, but the conversation was even better. He was so different from any guy I'd ever met. He had DEPTH, and it was so refreshing!
Yah, I guess you could say I thought the date went well ;), and I was really hoping I'd proven myself enough to get another... but I got nothin. Those of you that know me, know that I'm what you would call "socially awkward" to put it lightly. I've never been good at playing the game, so I resigned myself to crushing in silence and waiting for Clay to make the next move.
And he didn't get the hint! One day I mentioned something to a mutual friend about the entire situation, and word got back to Clay that I was harboring an interest in him.
Apparently it was mutual because shortly after, I got asked out on another date.
Pretty classic dinner and a movie, but before we headed to the movie, a friend of Clay's called and told him that there was a band called "We Shot the Moon" playing in Rexburg that night. Clay, being a BIG music buff really wanted to go, but he was out with me, so he asked if I wanted to go after the movie if we had time. The first thing I thought was, "Rexburg is like half an hour away, what on earth are we going to talk about?"
But I'd never been to see a live band before, and I was trying to impress this guy right? So I agreed.
After the movie wrapped up we had plenty of time to make it to the show, and it was amazing how easy it was to talk to him. And we talked about EVERYTHING, our families, books, movies, our plans, anything that came to mind. He was so interesting, intelligent, and funny and before I knew it, we were at the show.
The band was amazing, and they wrapped up way too soon. The drive home was over before I knew it and pretty soon he was walking me to the door. I thanked him for the incredible evening, one of the best I'd had up to that point, and gave him the end of the evening hug. I leaned back to give him a smile to show him I meant everything I'd said, that's when he leaned in and gave me a mind numbing, romantic, perfect kiss.
........
O man was I in trouble
to be continued....
