A Fall Post

Not sure if any of you have noticed, but this is what Fall looks like in the rockies...

But even if we don't technically get all 4 seasons, I still decorated for fall!

My mama was nice enough to come down a few weeks ago (during the planet's are not aligned bit of my life when I was thoroughly depressed) and she helped me make my house all kinds of cute.

We added a little color above the sink...

The terrible weather comes with perks! I made some cheese soup a couple days ago!

I made a full batch, and discovered a cute lil idea on pinterest to freeze the soup in muffin tins so that you can just pull one out and microwave it later.

Unfortunately I underestimated how much Clay and I love soup and apparently the freezing was very unnecessary.

O well, the thought was a good one right?

Today was such a lazy day, I decided to make something pumpkin related so I made some pumpkin chocolate chip cookies!

I just found out I misunderstood my mom's directions, so they didn't turn out like they probably should have...

Note to self, do NOT add the eggs, water, and oil the cake recipe requests...

It makes very flat cookies

O well, they still taste pretty good. Another unfortunate thing I did not anticipate is that the batter would make about 200 cookies. At this moment I am at the photolab, waiting for some prints to wash and Clay is trying to finish off the cookie batter.

Hope he doesn't hate me too much

The Planets are not Alined

Holy Cow.

Clay and I just barely survived 2 not good, very bad weeks

Both of us stressed beyond all belief=not a good combo

I have been in the photolab every night for at least 7 hours

Sometimes more

and I am most definitely trying to procrastinate going up there again right now

Alright, I'm gonna vent for just a bit, all those people that buy an expensive camera then start up a "professional photography business" drive me absolutely insane because of weeks like the one I just had.

The dark room and photography professors are definitely a right of passage. You are NOT a photographer until you have sat in on a critique and had your 20+ hours of work torn apart Literally and Verbally.

Why yes, I am a photo snob. But guess what? I earned it ;)

Keep in mind, it is still a work in progress (the logo is gonna be changed, need to add an "about me" page, and I'm still working on the galleries) but now my clients can view their photos in the proofing gallery.

Well, I better quit my procrastinating ways, and lock myself in the fine arts building for a few more hours. Keep checking back here because I have a few posts in the works. Posts with pictures, I promise! I just have a hard time taking photos when I am thoroughly resenting my camera at the moment.

The fact that I've been wearing hats and sweatshirts for about 2 weeks doesn't help either.

I promise I'll have happier posts coming in the near future!

As of Late. A Semi-stream of Consciousness

As of Late...

I do believe I have watched every movie of interest on Netflix.

No seriously, I have.

That's what happens when you freelance I guess. You end up cleaning the house... a lot.

How 2 people can make that much mess when we are never home, I have no clue.

My fantastic mama came down last Friday and helped me redo my house and decorate for fall!

One of the best days I've had in a while. My mom and I always have a good time when we're together and I love how my house feels now! There will be a blog post with lots of pictures when my other bookshelf shows up! I can't wait!

I started taking yoga classes again. I always forget how much I love yoga until I start up again.

Just for a change of pace, we moved the mattress out into the living room

we might have stayed up way too late playing super smash bros and watching star wars.... and decided to keep the mattress out there for another night for an office marathon

this might be a weekend tradition from here on out.

Does anyone else have like 20 shows that all come on on Thursday? All at 7? Thank heavens for hulu.

and I just thought this was cute. Even though it is blurry.

I love us. Lots.

School and Such

Does anyone read this anymore?

Well, to anyone that still follows our random adventures and doesn't mind reading my weird musings, here's a little update for you!

Well, my internship at Icon ended last Wednesday.

It was very bitter sweet.

I was excited to be starting my SECOND TO LAST SEMESTER at USU

But sad to be leaving Icon because I had learned so much there!

Plus, they just invested in this little cutie...

This camera also happens to be a medium format digital camera

and it's also $30,000

and my boss let me take a few photos with it for kicks and giggles.

Holy Cow.

Everyone that loves photography at all should have a chance to shoot with that camera.

It was a beautiful thing

Well anyways, the blow of ending my internship was softened when they offered me a freelance assisting position with them! They'll call me whenever they have location shoots and such and I'm nothing but happy about it. After talking to my boss about freelance assisting, another opportunity to do a little freelance assisting came up! This time with none other then The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints!

Yep. I'll be assisting the church!

I actually went and did my first job with them on Saturday and we shot some stuff for the new "For the Strength of Youth" pamphlet. Definitely not the kind of assisting I was used to but I learned a lot from a veteran photographer!

There are 6 on staff photographers at the church and the great thing about freelance assisting is it is pretty lenient and I can kind of pick and choose when I want to work. Which will be nice because we just started...

SCHOOL!

Well, because of my first freelancing job with Icon I had to skip my first class of the new semester.... meaning I had to live through Clay's first day of school.

I got up early and made Clay banana pancakes, smiled way to much, asked Clay if he was nervous one too many times, and then I took first day of school pictures... as you can see he was very excited about my picture taking idea.

yes, he refused to smile. But I'm sure he was excited on the inside! Just not about me taking pictures like an overly excited mom :)

I however was much more excited. See the super cheesy, picture of me below...

I've only got 3 classes I'm actually attending up on campus. 19th century photographic processes, studio photography, and painting. Should be a fun semester!

I also must say, it is so fun having Clay going to classes at the same time I am.

We get to meet in between classes, have mini dates at "The Hub" and take Institute together.

And just between you and me, I like being one of the people that gets to hold hands with their significant other and walk around campus. :)

Melissa and Jeremy Sneak Peak!

I've been trying to hold off on these until I got these edited but I just couldn't stand it any longer!
