Pretty Things for Wednesday

So, I'm just sitting here, not listening in my history of photography class

But feeling very inspired all the same

Take a look at these little pretties I found by one of my favorite photographers:
Richard Avedon

I think this model deserves a gold star for this pose. She totally ate it right after this shot.
O how I wish I had a big snake... you never know when you might need them

and maybe some elephants

All of these lil gems, plus what I have planned for dinner tonight...
Grilled Chicken and Roasted Red Pepper Paninis
You're welcome husband
Recipe found on one of my favorite blogs... The Pioneer Woman

Will be just enough to get me to Saturday,

And Clay and I's cross Utah extravaganza to...

SLC
and Provo for Round 2 of the Festival of Colors!

Yay Wednesdays!

I'll let you all know how the Paninis turn out

You're welcome

Mini-Moon and Sunday Walks

Hey World!

I'm back from my wedding hiatus!

And I have a few stories to share!

First off... IM MARRIED THESE DAYS!!!
Weird
But O so fun :)

I'm gonna save my wedding day recap for when I get a few more pictures back.
Something that I cannot WAIT for! :)

But just so you all know, it was a perfect day :)
I really can't thank everyone enough for coming and for all the work that was put into it
Especially my mom
She's pretty dang amazing if you didn't already know it :)

But like I said, no pictures, no story so we'll get ahead a little bit and I'll tell you about Clay and I's mini honeymoon to SLC! (Mini-moon phrase taken without permission from the Experiment in Poverty blog. I thought it was cute. And appropriate :)

It was so great to get away for a couple days, just the 2 of us, and to go out and do fun, nerdy things together and kind of get into the swing of getting married.

We did lots of fun things like...

Going to a Filipino Restaurant!

The Food was AWESOME
But I have to say my favorite part was Clay getting SO excited to talk to the staff there.
I love how much he loves the Filipino culture. And the people
Gotta love Sinigang :)
Thank heavens Filipino food is so tasty :)

We also did stuff for me, like checking out the aquarium...
For how much space they had there, I thought it was a pretty nice aquarium!
They even had Clay's new favorite animal..
Photos taken on Clay's Ipod.
I loved the caimans
Totally worth the trip and the near death experiences on the freeway during rush hour traffic :)

We also headed over to the Gateway so Clay could see his first IMAX movie

In 3D no less!

And of course, because I love animals too much, we went to the zoo...
Where Clay and I decided we'd like a pet giraffe
This was probably my favorite pic from the ENTIRE trip.
Did I marry a version of my dad? Perhaps...

Clay loved the monkeys.

Monkey's creep me out.

And we chased around some peacocks for kicks and giggles.
We also pretended to be rich for an evening and went to Ruth's Chris for steak that was WAY too expensive.
We felt very out of place
So we hit up P.F. Chang's for dessert.

Overall, it was a grand time!
Another big thanks to my dad for finding, and paying for our awesome hotel. We could walk to almost anywhere we wanted to go!

One more exciting bit of news...
It was warm enough to go on a walk on Sunday!

So Clay and I went and did a little photo safari!

We found a tree house in an abandoned lot near our apartment...
And I taught Clay how to use the manuel settings on my D70!
Check out his awesome photography skills...
Unfortunately... the weather didn't hold out
And today, it looks something like this...
Looks like a day for curling up with one of our new quilts and watching a movie!

Clay has dubbed this month "Trilogy month" so it works perfectly with our schedule!
Tonight we're finishing up Indiana Jones

PS Am I the only one that feels like I did something incredibly epic by just watching Lord of the Rings?
Yah, maybe that's just me... :)
Happy Wednesday Everyone!
And of course, more adventures to come!

Love,
Us
XOXO

Reasons 10-28 (really!)

Sorry I've been MIA, once again, for a large chunk of time

I've been busy with school, wedding things, and of course hanging out with my sweet boy. :)

If you didn't notice, he officially became the best fiance EVER with his sweet little blog hacking (see below) he always finds ways to make sure I know that I am loved which brings me to the rest of the THINGS I LOVE ABOUT MY LOVER!

Yes, I'm terribly behind but I am determined to finish!

So
here it is...
Reasons 10-28

10. As stated above, he always finds little ways to let me know how much he loves me. Valentines day was a perfect example of this. I woke up a lot earlier then I normally do and discovered Clay getting breakfast ready for me. I was a jerk and ruined the breakfast in bed surprise but it's the thought that counts right? That combined with getting flowers and the sweetest blog post EVER made for a great Valentines for sure. But seriously, Clay is always doing little things for me, whether it's doing the dishes at my apartment or giving me a little kiss just because he feels like it, it's these little things that keep me hopelessly crushing on Clay Reed.

11. This one is a little bit different but I feel like it definitely has a place here. One of the reasons I love Clay so much is because he has the most amazing family ever. They are all so close and so much FUN and they've been nothing but nice to me ever since Clay and I first started dating WAY back in high school. One of the things I appreciate the most about them, especially Clay's parents is that they raised al of their kids so well. I know that Clay is the person that he is because of what he was taught growing up. The Reeds have the same sense of humor my family has, they have been so accepting and welcoming and I can't wait to be part of the Reed clan.
(We're missing a few members of the family here but you get the idea)

12. Clay might not agree with me about this one but Clay has a great sense of adventure. It's always been important for me to know that my future spouse wouldn't be afraid to try new things because it is an important part of my life. I think Clay said that it is because I was born without the part of my brain that creates fear, but I just like experiencing the world and Clay has always been excited to do that as well. I know that we are going to have a pretty amazing life together because the whole thing will be an adventure!

13. One of the things I've always loved about Clay is how much respect he's had for me. Since the beginning, I've never had to worry about him pushing his limits because I knew he would always respect me because he loves me!

14. This one is pretty similar to one of Allie's but I can love my guy for the same reasons she loves hers right? Clay supports me in whatever I do, especially when it comes to school. It's always been so important to me to finish and get me degree and work in my chosen field (hopefully at a magazine somewhere!) and because it's important to me, it's important to Clay. :)

15. Clay loves reading. This one probably takes a little bit of explaining I think. While other guys were sitting at home playing video games, Clay was reading books. It was one of the first things that separated him from all the other guys because he read so much, and since I love reading as well, we get along just splendidly in this respect.

16. This one has always been important to me, ever since I was little. Clay is a worthy priesthood holder. This has already been such a blessing to me with all the stressing that comes with wedding planning and school and preparing to go to the temple, it has been so great to be able to go to Clay to ask for a blessing whenever I need it and I know it is going to bless our home for the rest of our lives.

17. He's great with kids. Clay has 2 nieces and 3 nephews that are all pretty young. Clay loves playing with them and loving on them, no matter how crazy and excited they get. I know he's going to make an awesome dad someday because of how much he loves those kids.
It does help that they're so dang cute too...
Good genes run in the family :)

18. Clay claims to think I'm beautiful, even without makeup :) Every girl needs to feel like they're attractive right? Clay has seen me at my best, and my worst and still thinks I'm gorgeous, something which I definitely haven't earned. Those of you that have seen me when I first wake up in the morning know what I'm talking about. :)

19. Clay and I rarely argue, but whenever we do, Clay always says he's sorry first. This of course makes me forget I'm mad and after that, it's easy to talk things through.

20. Clay is DANG handsome. He is everything I've always looked for in a guy, tall, dark hair, awesome eyes, a smile that melts me, I could go on and on.
Case and point below...
What. A. Hottie.

21. Even after dating for over 3 years, we never run out of interesting things to talk about. We still stay up late talking about anything and everything. My school performance has probably suffered because of this, but it's nothing but fun!

22. He's a kid at heart, which goes perfectly with my 12 year old maturity level. :) If you need any evidence for this, just look at our wedding registry list.

23. Ok this is another funny one but Clay smells SO good All. the. time. It's so nice to snuggle up to Clay and have him smell so delicious! ;) Definitely not a bad thing.

24. Clay loves my family. It has been so easy to have him become part of the family because they love him too, most likely more then me. :)

25. He always remembers the little things I tell him. When we first started dating, I would mention things that I didn't think were important, names of people, dates, pretty much anything, and days, weeks, even months later he would ask about it or remember it! It's just another little way he shows me he loves me.

26. I love the way he looks at me when I walk into a room. :) I really can't describe it but it gives me butterflies every single time. It's like there is no body else there but us, in an awesome, cheesy movie kind of way. :)

27. He took me to the temple this Saturday, which was one of the sweetest experiences of my life. I am go grateful that I was able to share that with Clay.

28. He loves me, despite all of my faults and shortcomings. He loves me, even when I make mistakes and come up short. He loves me enough to want to spend forever with me. :)

Well, it took me a while but I finally finished! And before March rolled around too!
But unfortunately, I do believe I will be on a blogging hiatus for at least another week. After all, I am getting married in 3 days, 12 hours, 50 minutes.

And I cant wait.

Wish me luck as I enter the bonds of matrimony
and...
Hope to see you all at the reception!

XOXO

Valentines Day

Hey everybody!!!!!
Just to start off, I want to let everyone know that this is not Bethany writing this post.

This is Clay, her fiance

I was thinking what I could do for Bethany this valentines day that would be really creative and awesome. I almost just went back to the old flower and chocolate routine, but then I thought...

What says romantic better than breaking into someone's blog and doing a surprise post?

Not much.
Bethany has been doing a series of posts about me, so I thought I would surprise her and tell her some of the things I love about her.

So this is for you Bee.
Happy Valentines day!!!!!

#1
- Have you ever taken a good look at Bethany?

Go on. Take a look.

I think we can all agree that she is a Beautiful girl, right? Those big blue eyes that just take you in, That lovely golden hair, the dazzling smile, I mean, the woman is obviously a babe. But, when I say she’s beautiful, there is a lot more to it than first meets the eye. If you have ever met someone who is graceful, who is kind, who you can’t resist getting to know, then you know what I’m talking about. That is the brand of beauty that Bethany has. It’s not just in her looks, but it’s in the way that she holds herself, the presence she has. I can honestly say that I don’t know a lot of people that have that kind of Beauty. One more reason to be in love with her!

#2

- I don’t know about other people, but for me, It just feels nice when you know someone believes in you, and will support your decisions (as long as they’re not really dumb decisions.) And if supporting was a sport, Bethany would be a regular Tiger Woods… Without the car crashing and promiscuity, of course. But seriously, for those of you that know me, you might know that I’m not always super confident with everything I do. I can get discouraged pretty quickly if I don’t have someone backing me up. Luckily, Bethany meets all my supporting needs. She’s always the first to tell me that I can accomplish things, and that she really believes that I can do whatever I want. I really do believe that she would support me in anything I would ever want to do (Except becoming a democrat. I honestly think she would kill me in my sleep if I ever tried that.) But on my list of qualities I require in a significant other, (which is an extensive list), this one is pretty high up

#3
Probably one of the greatest things about Bethany that has always stood out to me, is how compassionate she is. The happiness of other people always comes first for her. She always puts her friends and her family first, and does everything she can to help solve other people’s problems. That is a pretty rare thing to find in people these days. Bethany is really just one of those selfless people that is always ready to give and to help in any way she can.

#4
Bethany never ceases to amaze me with the kind of stuff she wants to do in her life. She dreams big. I realize that this particular statement could be said about numerous people. Everybody has a big dream, right? The only difference between Bethany and other people is she has a whole list of big dreams. We have been working on our list of things we want to do before we die, and she put me to shame with how much cooler her ideas were than mine. Here’s an example. One of my items: participate in a pie eating contest. Her idea: backpack through a foreign country and scuba dive with great white sharks. Do you kind of see the difference? This is one thing that I have always loved about Bethany, she has so many big ideas and goals, and she is not afraid to really try to accomplish them. I really do think that in our life time, Bethany and I will probably get a lot accomplished!

#5

- Ok, I enjoy a good adventure as much as the next guy, But I feel like I’ve always known where to draw the line when it comes to that kind of stuff. Bethany, on the other hand, lost sight of the line years ago. I really do think that she was born without the part of the brain that creates fear. She is willing to try absolutely anything. Let me list off a couple of things that she has done in her 20 years of life. Scuba diving well over 100 times in many different locations, skydiving, ice climbing, rock climbing, traveling to most of the world, and that’s just naming a few. Here’s a couple of examples…

Well, thats just a couple of the things that came to mind, but If I wrote everything that I loved about her, this would be a super blog post.

Well Bee, I just want to let you know that I love you more than anything. You are the ying to my yang, the cheese to my macaroni, the peanut butter to my jelly. You make my life so much better than it should be. I really am grateful for you every day, and how big of a blessing you are to me. I can't wait to marry you.

Here's to a happy life together.
Happy valentines day Bethany

p.s. sorry that this post is so messy looking, this was my first time ever doing this, so hopefully everyone can cut me some slack.

This one is a pretty new discovery

I found out about it a few days ago actually
and I am nothing but excited about it.

Take a look below...

That's right. Clay can cook like a CHAMP!

Well, so far Clay can cook Filipino food like a champ.
And eggs.
And as of this morning, pancakes.

Maybe I should let him cook more often?

#8

Alright onto reason #8

And he will tease me about this but Clay is one of the most CHARMING people I've ever met.
And he's been that way, ever since he was little. A while back, I was talking to Clay's mom about what Clay was like when he was a little boy and she said his teachers always talked about how charming he was.
Cracked. Me. Up.

But seriously, Clay is SUCH a people person. I've yet to meet someone that knows Clay that does not like him. (Pretty sure this is why he was homecoming king ;) ) It's so nice to have him around because once again, I'm pretty socially awkward so I can just sit back and let Clay make all the good impressions.

A great example of this was a few days ago after I got in a car accident. I was FREAKING out of course, and just so mad at myself and the lady in the other car was also not doing too well at keeping her cool, but Clay just started asking her questions about her life. How long had she lived in Logan? Did she have any kids? Grandkids? exc. He was genuinely interested in hearing about her life and she immediately calmed down. Clay made a good impression after we'd hit this lady's car 5 min earlier!
Can't get much more charming then that!
Seriously, what would I do without him?
